X Marks the Trade: Musk's Timeline Now Sends You Straight to Coinbase, Kraken & Co. 🚀

—By our Exchanges & Companies Desk2 min read

Elon Musk's X activated its U.S. Cashtag Partner Program on September 22, 2026, wiring five outside brokerages and crypto exchanges directly into the platform's trading flow and turning ticker symbols such as $BTC and $TSLA into one-tap on-ramps to participating venues. The launch partners are Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken, Interactive Brokers and Moomoo, with each firm handling account creation, custody and order execution while X limits its role to redirection.

Under the updated Smart Cashtags format, tapping a supported ticker on the timeline opens an interactive page showing live price charts, related posts and a new "Trade" button. Pressing that button hands the user off to a partner's app or website, where eligible U.S. customers can sign in or open a new account to complete a transaction. X stated that it does not execute trades or hold customer assets through the feature. "Cashtags close the gap between a ticker on the timeline and the market itself," X Product Engineering Lead Mridul Singhai said.

Kraken confirmed that its integration covers nearly 2,500 assets across centralized and decentralized offerings, while Interactive Brokers is offering a $100 promotional credit to new U.S. clients who open and fund an account through the Cashtag flow. The rollout stays separate from X Money, the platform's payments product, which currently offers no direct link for funding trades.

The launch coincided with a sharp session for Bitcoin, as U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $998.95M in net inflows on Monday, their strongest single-day haul since October 2025. $BTC rose roughly 1% over 24 hours, breaking through $86,000 on daily trading volume of $135Bn, per CoinGecko data. Separately, Coinbase introduced fixed-rate Bitcoin-backed borrowing through Morpho Midnight.

The new feature lands on a platform that X reports has around 132 million daily active users via mobile and more than 245 million across all devices worldwide, a footprint that has long positioned the service as a central hub for crypto market discussion. X also unveiled Grok 4.7 alongside the rollout, describing the model as its most capable release for coding and knowledge work, with twice the speed and half the price of its predecessor.
