Solstice CEO bets the violent crypto cycle just got benched 🦎

The extreme boom-and-bust cycles that have defined crypto markets are unlikely to return as deeper liquidity and institutional participation reshape the asset class, according to Ben Nadareski, CEO of Solana-based decentralized finance platform Solstice. Speaking on Cointelegraph's Chain Reaction show, Nadareski said liquidity across major crypto trading pairs has expanded significantly even during downturns, blunting the conditions that produced sharp price swings in prior cycles. "We don't want to go through 2017. We don't want to go through 2021. We don't want to go through these massive fluctuations," he said.

Market data cited in a December 2025 joint report from blockchain analytics firm Glassnode and asset manager Fasanara Digital supports that assessment. According to the report, Bitcoin's one-year realized volatility fell from 84.4% to 43%, a shift the firms attributed partly to greater market depth and institutional involvement. Daily $BTC spot trading volumes climbed to between $8 billion and $22 billion from a prior range of $4 billion to $13 billion, the firms found.

Other industry figures have advanced similar arguments. In March, SkyBridge Capital managing partner Anthony Scaramucci said Bitcoin's four-year cycle had been "muted" by institutional investors and spot Bitcoin ETF inflows, while still maintaining the traditional cycle had not disappeared entirely. Analyst James Check has separately suggested the Bitcoin cycle bottom may already have formed at $58,000.

Nadareski also pointed to growth prospects within the Solana ecosystem, predicting that stablecoins issued on the network could rise above $50 billion and approach $100 billion over the next five years, citing adoption among fintech companies alongside Solana's transaction speed and low fees. Solana currently has roughly $16 billion in stablecoin market capitalization, according to DefiLlama.

Stablecoins more broadly have become a dominant source of crypto market liquidity. Data from CEX.IO shows stablecoins accounted for 75% of total crypto trading volume in the first quarter of 2026, the highest share on record, while transaction volume surpassed $28 trillion. Nadareski's framing places that shift at the center of a market structure increasingly oriented toward institutional capital and household wealth rather than speculative trading.
