X Puts a Brokerage in Your Timeline: Cashtags Now Ship You Straight to Coinbase, Kraken and Gemini 🪙
Elon Musk's X has linked its U.S. Cashtag Partner Program with five trading platforms, letting users move directly from a ticker on the timeline to a live brokerage or crypto exchange account. The participating partners are Coinbase, Gemini and Kraken for crypto, plus Interactive Brokers and Moomoo for traditional markets such as stocks and ETFs, the company said.
The feature builds on Smart Cashtags, the interactive symbols X introduced for assets including $BTC and $ETH. Tapping a supported Cashtag now surfaces price charts and related posts alongside a new Trade button that redirects users to a participating platform, where eligible customers can sign in or open an account to complete a transaction. X stated that it does not execute trades or hold customer assets through the feature; account setup, order routing and other trading services are handled by the financial firms themselves. Each user can move from a ticker to a chart, additional discussion threads and a connected brokerage within the same flow.
"Cashtags close the gap between a ticker on the timeline and the market itself," X Product Engineering Lead Mridul Singhai said in the announcement. The Cashtag Partner Program is limited to U.S. users for now, with X framing the rollout as a step toward embedding financial activity inside the social feed rather than pushing it out to external apps.
Alongside the trading integrations, X introduced an expanded market-data experience called Big Charts and released Grok 4.7, which the company described as its most capable model for coding and knowledge work, citing twice the speed of its predecessor at half the price. The Grok update is separate from the Cashtag program but was unveiled the same day, signaling that X is pairing its financial pipeline with broader infrastructure upgrades as it deepens ties with the crypto and brokerage sectors.
