Fairshake PAC reloads $30M against Sherrod Brown, sequel nobody asked for 🎬

—By our Regulation & Policy Desk2 min read

Fairshake, the political action committee funded largely by cryptocurrency companies Coinbase and Ripple Labs, plans to spend $30 million opposing Democrat Sherrod Brown's bid to return to the US Senate, according to reporting by the New York Times. In a statement, Fairshake spokesperson Geoff Vetter confirmed the figure and said the PAC is targeting Brown's 2026 campaign for the Ohio Senate seat, with additional expenditures expected to be announced before the Nov. 3 midterm elections.

Fairshake previously spent about $41 million supporting Republican Bernie Moreno and opposing Brown in the 2024 race, part of more than $300 million in spending by Fairshake and other PACs during that cycle. Brown, who chaired the Senate Banking Committee when Democrats held the majority, lost to Moreno by roughly four points in 2024.

The PAC is among several aligned with the cryptocurrency industry seeking to influence voters in 2026 contests, when control of the House of Representatives and the Senate will be determined. As of Monday, event contracts on prediction market platforms such as Kalshi favored Democrats to retake majorities in both chambers. Cointelegraph reached out to Brown's campaign but did not receive an immediate response.

Vetter declined to comment on Fairshake's midterm strategy but said in August that the PAC held a $122 million war chest heading into the election cycle. The renewed Ohio spending signals that the largest crypto-aligned PAC intends to remain a major force in federal races shaping the industry's regulatory future.
