Saylor's Strategy Resumes BTC Shopping Spree, Drops $75.7M on 950 Coins 🍊
Strategy, the business intelligence firm chaired by Michael Saylor, has resumed Bitcoin acquisitions after a two-week pause, purchasing 950 BTC for $75.7 million between September 14 and September 20, according to an SEC filing. The average transaction price was reported at $79,670 per BTC, inclusive of fees and expenses. The company financed the acquisition using USD cash rather than proceeds from MSTR stock sales.
With the latest purchase, Strategy's total Bitcoin reserves now stand at 846,000 BTC, acquired at a cumulative average price of approximately $75,416 per coin. The firm has invested a total of $63.80 billion into its Bitcoin holdings. As of September 20, Strategy also reported holding $6.09 billion in USD assets, as confirmed in a post by Michael Saylor (@saylor) on September 21.
The buy marks the company's first Bitcoin acquisition since August 31, when it purchased 4,603 BTC for $370 million at an average price of $80,318 per coin. During the intervening weeks, Strategy also sold 1,690 BTC in September, according to prior reports. Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor had recently hinted at another upcoming Bitcoin acquisition prior to the announcement.
Separately, Strategy disclosed that during the same week it spent $75.7 million on Bitcoin, it also repurchased $174 million worth of $STRC stock. The filing did not provide additional details on the timing or average price of the $STRC buyback, and Strategy has not publicly commented beyond the SEC filing and Saylor's social media disclosure.
