Musk's X Hands Bitcoin Influencers a Receipt for £207K in "Engagement" 🧾
Elon Musk's social media platform X has filed a lawsuit in the UK High Court against multiple Bitcoin influencers, accusing them of running a coordinated scheme to defraud its Creator Revenue Sharing Program of at least £207,384. The defendants named in the action include Vivek Kumar Sen and Zamyang Sherpa, alongside additional X accounts that the platform alleges published identical or near-identical content, liked and reposted each other's posts, and manipulated engagement metrics to evade platform enforcement.
The complaint was brought by X Internet Unlimited Company and X Corp, which claim the named accounts artificially inflated their payout eligibility through mutual amplification. X has since suspended the implicated accounts and is seeking the return of the disputed funds, along with damages, interest, and legal costs. The company additionally estimated that investigation, analysis, and remediation expenses will total at least £75,000, figures that remain subject to court determination.
The lawsuit marks the latest escalation in a broader pattern of platform enforcement targeting engagement fraud on X. After repeatedly identifying coordinated manipulation tied to the Creator Revenue Sharing Program, X ended the initiative and replaced it with a new Original Content Rewards program designed to compensate creators based on verified original output rather than aggregate engagement signals.
Bitcoin commentary has been a recurring flashpoint on the platform, where high-profile figures have previously moved markets with single posts. In this case, however, the conduct alleged by X does not concern market commentary but the mechanical abuse of a payout mechanism, with the defendants accused of treating the revenue program as a target for extraction rather than a reward for authentic content.
The UK High Court filing adds X to a growing list of technology firms pursuing civil action against users accused of exploiting creator-economy products. Court records indicate the matter will proceed through standard litigation channels, and X has not indicated any plans to alter its broader content monetization framework beyond the transition already announced.
