Visser Drops the Bear Suit: AI Agents, Not Money Printers, Are Crypto's New Bull Case 🤖
Macro investor Jordi Visser said he has shifted to a bullish stance on crypto, citing the convergence of artificial intelligence and blockchain infrastructure rather than liquidity or monetary policy as the catalyst for the next growth phase. Speaking in a recent interview, Visser said the market has reached a critical stage in which digital assets move beyond price speculation toward real-world use. "The shift of cryptocurrency from speculation to real use cases was the key factor making me optimistic," Visser said.
At the center of Visser's thesis are AI agents. He argued that high-speed transactions between autonomous digital agents will require payment rails different from the current financial system, and that stablecoins and networks such as Ethereum and Solana are positioned to serve that role. He said the use of AI agents in the crypto ecosystem could grow "parabolically" once those agents begin transacting on chain, predicting that consumer-focused AI agents will become widespread in the coming period.
Visser drew a sharp line between Bitcoin's role and that of stablecoins. He said Bitcoin's primary function is not as a medium of exchange but as a long-term store of value and collateral asset, noting that it has been chosen by hundreds of millions of people as a digital store of value and has survived numerous bear markets. "Bitcoin can provide long-term portfolio protection against other assets," Visser said, adding that it is one of the few assets likely to be unaffected by future technological transformation.
The investor acknowledged that Bitcoin has lagged recently as capital rotated toward AI-related investments in the first part of the year, leaving investors with little reason to return to $BTC. He attributed the underperformance to investors seeking higher returns elsewhere rather than any structural weakness in the asset, while noting that traditional finance and crypto are beginning to strengthen their ties.
Visser said the next phase of the market will be defined by tokenization, the expansion of $ETH and $SOL-based infrastructure, and the broader integration of AI agents into economic activity, with Bitcoin continuing to serve as a hedge rather than a transactional layer.
