Senate's CLARITY Act fumble couldn't dim crypto stocks' rebound rumble 📈
Crypto-linked equities staged a sharp rebound on Friday, clawing back ground lost after the U.S. Senate failed on Sept. 15 to advance the CLARITY Act, as Bitcoin ($BTC) pushed back above $80,000. Strategy led the rally with a gain of more than 13%, while Coinbase and American Bitcoin each climbed about 11% and Robinhood advanced nearly 9%, according to Yahoo Finance data.
The recovery extended across a broader basket of crypto-exposed names, with Circle, Strive and Bitcoin miner Riot Platforms each rising between roughly 5% and 7%. Bitcoin itself was up about 5% over the prior 24 hours, trading near $80,800 at the time of writing, according to CoinGecko. The Friday moves reversed steep declines recorded immediately after the Senate vote, when Coinbase and Circle had fallen about 10%, Strategy and Strive had dropped roughly 5% and American Bitcoin had slid around 8%.
Since the failed vote, U.S. regulators have pressed ahead using their existing authority. On Thursday, the CFTC issued no-action relief to passive software providers while the SEC temporarily eased requirements for certain platforms facilitating onchain trading of tokenized securities. The CFTC also submitted a crypto market regulatory action for White House review, though the "prerule" filing did not disclose details of the planned regulation.
The Senate's inability to advance the CLARITY Act had left the bill's future in question heading into the weekend. As reported by Magazine, market participants and observers have continued to weigh whether any legislative path remains to revive the measure in the current session.
