Bitget's CLO Drops 8th-Anniversary Compliance Flex: "Verify Harder, Trust Longer" 🛡️
Bitget Chief Legal Officer Hon Ng used the exchange's 8th anniversary to detail its ongoing investment in security, compliance and the evolution of a platform now serving more than 125 million users. Ng framed the company's trajectory as a shift from a derivatives exchange into a Universal Exchange (UEX) spanning crypto, tokenized equities, commodities and additional asset classes.
Central to that transparency push is Bitget's Proof of Reserves (PoR) program, launched in December 2022. The exchange has since published reserve data monthly, maintains a minimum 1:1 reserve ratio, and uses Merkle Tree verification. The 46th consecutive PoR snapshot, for September 2026, showed a total reserve ratio of 135%, with the average reserve ratio running above 120%.
Bitget has also broadened PoR coverage from four assets to 19, including $BTC, $ETH and XRP, among others. Ng tied the expansion directly to the platform's growing product set, stating, "As users gain access to more assets and markets, the scope of what they can independently verify should grow as well."
In parallel, Bitget has continued to build out its Protection Fund, originally launched in 2022, with periodic top-ups designed to cover specified user losses arising from security incidents on the platform. The exchange has positioned the fund alongside its reserve disclosures as part of a layered approach to user asset safeguarding.
Ng's remarks came as Bitget marked eight years since its founding, with the CLO pointing to UEX expansion, monthly PoR reporting, a 135% September reserve ratio and a now 19-asset verification footprint as evidence of the exchange's compliance-led growth strategy.
