XRPL taught AI agents to pay their own bills, and XRP + RLUSD is the wallet 🤖💸

Ripple has integrated XRP and the RLUSD stablecoin into Stripe and Tempo's Machine Payments Protocol, enabling AI agents to settle transactions for data, computing and other online services on the XRP Ledger. The expansion was disclosed by Jesse Cooper, head of product at RippleX, who said the company's XRPL AI Starter Kit now supports the Machine Payment Protocol after previously integrating with Coinbase's x402 payment protocol.

Cooper framed the move as part of a broader push to keep Ripple's assets available across competing agentic payment frameworks. "Agentic payments will be multi-platform and multi-rail. Our job is to make XRP and RLUSD first-class options wherever developers are building," Cooper said. The XRPL AI Starter Kit is designed to help developers build applications in which AI agents pay autonomously for online services using crypto.

The Machine Payments Protocol comes from Stripe and Tempo, the payments-focused blockchain venture backed by Stripe. Ripple joins a roster of companies that have signed on to the x402 Foundation alongside Coinbase and Circle, among others, as standards and tooling for autonomous AI-driven commerce continue to take shape.

In market action, XRP was trading near $1.30, with the price holding that level after the latest U.S. Federal Reserve rate decision. Tokens continue to trade on volume across major venues, and the protocol-level integrations announced Thursday do not alter circulating supply or tokenomics.

The additions extend XRP and RLUSD's footprint beyond human-initiated transfers into automated machine-to-machine settlement. Developers can now use the XRPL AI Starter Kit to build agents that transact in XRP or RLUSD wherever the Machine Payments Protocol is supported, with Ripple positioning both assets as settlement options for the emerging agentic economy.
