Hunter Biden's $LAPTOP Meme Coin Drops Sept. 9 — Biggest TRUMP Bagholders Get the Airdrop 💻

Hunter Biden plans to launch a meme coin named $LAPTOP on September 9, according to a Wall Street Journal report and a post on X from the @HunterBiden account dated September 7, 2026. The token's name refers to the laptop a Delaware repair shop handed over in 2019, whose contents the New York Post published weeks before the 2020 election. Biden is personally part of the token's founding team, the WSJ report said.

$LAPTOP will mint 1 billion tokens on Base, the Ethereum layer-2 network created by Coinbase in 2023. Founders, including Biden, will hold 30% of the supply, locked for six months and then gradually unlocked over a two-year vesting schedule. Another 20% will cover charity donations, liquidity, exchange and market-maker payments, and the foundation's legal and accounting costs. A further 30% is earmarked for burning, contingent on triggers including Bitcoin hitting a new all-time high or a Democrat winning the 2028 presidential election.

The remaining 20% of supply is reserved for two rounds of airdrops. Eligibility extends to subscribers of Biden's Substack and members of Andrew Callaghan's Channel 5 mailing list. A second tranche is allocated to traders who lost money on $TRUMP, the official meme coin of President Donald Trump, which launched in 2025 alongside a $MELANIA token issued by First Lady Melania Trump. Since launch, both $TRUMP and $MELANIA have lost more than 90% of their respective market capitalizations. Entities tied to the Trump Organization control 80% of $TRUMP's supply under their own multi-year vesting schedule.

Within minutes of Biden's X post, which paired the $LAPTOP ticker with a 31-second Fox News clip about the laptop and drew more than 1.7 million views, several copycat tokens using the ticker appeared on other networks. No official contract address for the genuine $LAPTOP token has been published. Biden's post prompted a swift reaction across crypto social media, with replies skewing toward mockery and criticism, including one user who wrote, "You criticize [President Donald] Trump for doing a scam then do one yourself." Traders also flagged that announcing the launch two days early, with the ticker already circulating, gives sniping bots a head start over regular buyers at launch.
