Crypto Beats Cabana: Trump's 2025 Disclosure Logs $1.2B+ in Coin Income 🪙

President Donald Trump's annual financial disclosure, released Tuesday by the U.S. Office of Government Ethics, reports more than $1.2 billion in earnings from cryptocurrency ventures in 2025, with crypto-related income surpassing revenue from his real estate and resort businesses. The 927-page filing, covering the president's personal holdings, places the president's crypto earnings ahead of the more than $290 million reported from properties including Mar-a-Lago Club and various golf clubs and resorts.

The single largest line item is the TRUMP meme coin, which generated about $635 million in royalties through a licensing agreement with Celebration Coins. The token, which trades as TRUMP, launched on the Solana network three days before Trump's January 2025 inauguration, reached a multi-billion-dollar market capitalization within hours of debut, and now trades near $1.66 with a market capitalization of about $394 million, down roughly 98% from its January 19, 2025 all-time high. Trump also reported holding more than $50 million in $BTC and between $5 million and $25 million in $ETH, along with more than $100 million in combined Bitcoin and Ethereum holdings across disclosures cited by other outlets.

World Liberty Financial, the decentralized finance and stablecoin venture operated by the Trump family and business associates, contributed additional income. The filing reports more than $588 million in net proceeds from token sales distributed by World Liberty Financial, with separate disclosures attributing roughly $515 million in token-sale proceeds and $65 million in equity to the venture, and a Reuters tally placing Trump-linked receipts from World Liberty Financial at about $800 million when governance token revenue and business-interest sales are combined. Trump additionally reported $197 million from the sale of equity in Stablecoin Holdco. The Trump family entity DT Marks DEFI LLC is entitled to 75% of token-sale proceeds after expenses, according to Reuters. World Liberty Financial, roughly 38% owned by a Trump family entity, raised $1.4 billion through the sale of 30 billion governance tokens in total.

The disclosure arrived alongside Trump v. Slaughter, a 6-3 Supreme Court ruling that lets presidents fire commissioners at independent regulators without cause, overturning the 91-year-old Humphrey's Executor precedent and, according to legal analysts, extending to the SEC and CFTC, the primary crypto regulators. Trump welcomed the decision on Truth Social: "This Decision gives tremendous additional Power back to the Presidency, where it belongs. It is an Honor to be the sitting President who, after all these years, WON this very important, and hard fought, Case." White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly said Trump had "proudly made the United States the crypto capital of the world," adding: "Neither the President nor his family has ever engaged - or will ever engage - in conflicts of interest." The Trump Organization said the filing represents "one of the most comprehensive financial disclosure reports ever submitted."

Scrutiny over potential conflicts is sharpening. Public Citizen called the disclosures an "obscene crypto grift," with co-president Robert Weissman stating that "Trump's personal profit interest has now aligned him with the crypto industry, paving the way for dangerous legislation that will facilitate mass rip-offs and even threaten financial system stability." Senate Democrats have demanded hearings into World Liberty Financial, including a May 2025 transaction in which Abu Dhabi state fund MGX settled a $2 billion Binance investment using the firm's USD1 stablecoin. The House has passed the Clarity Act, which would legalize most crypto activity in the United States, but the bill remains in the Senate, where Democrats have pressed for ethics language barring the president and his family from cryptocurrency-related businesses. The disclosure coincides with a market downturn in which Bitcoin's spot price sat near $58,500 on Tuesday, down more than 50% from its October record.
