Injective's Transfer Agent Status Now In Effect, Bringing SEC Recordkeeping Onchain 🧾

—By our Regulation & Policy Desk2 min read

Injective Institutional Services, an affiliate of the Injective blockchain ecosystem, confirmed Wednesday that its registration with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a transfer agent is now effective, adding a regulated securities recordkeeping function to Injective's tokenization infrastructure.

The registration enables the affiliate to maintain securities ownership records and process ownership changes, a foundational function in traditional US securities markets that the company said could also support tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). Transfer agents are part of the regulated infrastructure underpinning US securities markets, and the role takes on added relevance when securities are issued or transferred onchain.

Injective Institutional Services filed its application to register as a transfer agent with the SEC in July, according to earlier reporting. The company's announcement said it plans to pair the transfer agent function with Injective Mint, its platform for issuing and managing tokenized assets.

The registration follows Injective's expansion of its tokenization efforts in recent months, which have included markets offering exposure to digital asset treasury companies, equities and shares in pre-IPO companies. By layering a regulated recordkeeping role onto its onchain issuance stack, Injective is positioning its institutional arm to serve as the books-and-records counterparty for tokenized securities on its network.

The news arrives amid a broader week of crypto policy headlines, including a reported leak of data tied to 54,000 wallet users and an early read on legislative prospects, with one assessment placing the odds of the CLARITY market-structure bill at just 10%.
