Blockchain.com Adds Cayman Islands to Its Growing Island of Approvals 🌴

Blockchain.com secured a virtual asset service provider license from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority on July 22, 2026, clearing the cryptocurrency services company to offer regulated custody operations in the jurisdiction, according to a Thursday announcement.

The license, which followed a conditional approval CIMA issued in December 2025, also authorizes Blockchain.com to provide crypto-to-fiat and crypto-to-crypto exchange services. The company has held a VASP registration in the Cayman Islands since May 2022.

Lane Kasselman, co-CEO of Blockchain.com, said the CIMA authorization builds on the company's recent regulatory milestones, including obtaining a Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation license in Europe and registering with the UK Financial Conduct Authority. "We believe strong regulation is essential to the long-term development of digital assets, and these approvals further strengthen our ability to serve customers across the region," Kasselman said.

The CIMA license positions Blockchain.com to expand institutional and retail custody offerings in a jurisdiction widely used by crypto-focused funds and trading firms. The company has framed its regulatory progress as a deliberate effort to align with multiple international frameworks as digital asset oversight continues to evolve.

Blockchain.com is one of several firms that have moved to formalize their standing under MiCA following the framework's full implementation. A fourth post-deadline update to the MiCA list added 12 companies, reflecting the steady onboarding of service providers into the European regulatory perimeter.

The Cayman approval arrives as the broader crypto industry navigates a patchwork of licensing regimes across the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom and offshore financial centers, with custody remains a central focus for institutional participants.
