Cramer Hands Bulls the Quantum Sell Signal, Again 🎯
CNBC host Jim Cramer said on air that he is selling his Bitcoin over quantum computing concerns, telling co-anchor David Faber that remarks from IBM CEO Arvind Krishna convinced him to exit the position. "Arvind Krishna knows quantum incredibly. He knows Bitcoin and quantum. And I'm going to sell mine," Cramer said. During the interview, Krishna advised holders to "give yourself three or four years" before getting "rather paranoid" about quantum threats to crypto. Cramer responded, "Three, four years. David, you know when three, four years is going to happen? Like tomorrow." A clip of the exchange pulled 89,000 views on X and more than 9,000 views on YouTube after it was posted on August 3, 2026.
The reaction from crypto Twitter was celebratory, with users repeating the long-running "inverse Cramer" thesis that buying when he sells has been profitable. "Every time Cramer says sell, I add to my position. Been doing it since 2018. The inverse Cramer index remains undefeated," Bitcoin & Barbells (@Btcbarbells) wrote on August 4, 2026. The pattern dates to at least December 2022, when Cramer said he had sold everything and wouldn't touch crypto "in a million years" with Bitcoin at $16,796. $BTC gained more than 400% over the following three years. Cramer reversed course in January 2024, calling Bitcoin a "technological marvel" that's "here to stay," and has repeatedly pushed back on claims he called the top. Most recently, the Unbias tracker logged his calls as fully bearish last Christmas while $BTC sat near $87,500; the token rose roughly 1.6% on the day he announced the sale.
The inverse-Cramer trade has its own fund history. Tuttle Capital launched the Inverse Cramer Tracker ETF in 2023 alongside a Long Cramer counterpart that bet with his picks. The long fund closed first, and the short version followed in February 2024 with $2 million in assets under management. Portfolio manager Matthew Tuttle said the products were created "in order to point out the danger of following TV stockpickers, Jim Cramer specifically, and the total lack of accountability," adding, "We feel like we have accomplished that mission." Cramer has also dared investors to bet against him, and he mentioned $ETH during his quantum commentary, calling Ethereum "really, maybe even worse" than Bitcoin on the same threat.
