Galaxy + BNY Stake Their Claim 🏦 Proof-of-trust, proof-of-stake

By our DeFi Desk2 min read

Galaxy and BNY have folded institutional staking into BNY's Digital Asset Custody platform, letting eligible clients run proof-of-stake operations alongside existing custody, fund accounting, tax reporting, payments, and client reporting under a single servicing model. The staking offering remains subject to regulatory approval, according to the companies.

Under the expanded collaboration, Galaxy is serving as an infrastructure design partner to BNY, supporting the bank's broader digital asset platform roadmap. The partnership builds on the firms' prior digital asset work and is intended to streamline how institutional clients interact with proof-of-stake networks while keeping existing operational controls and asset protections in place.

Separately, BNY has launched a blockchain-based transfer agency platform that maintains on-chain shareholder records for tokenized investment funds and supports related transactions. The infrastructure is part of BNY's push to expand digital asset capabilities beyond custody into fund administration workflows.

Galaxy framed the integrated custody-and-staking stack as a step toward simplifying institutional participation in digital assets, while BNY positioned the transfer agency platform as a foundation for tokenized fund servicing. Terms of the partnership and financial details were not disclosed in the announcements.

The rollout adds Galaxy to a growing list of crypto-native firms embedding themselves inside traditional financial infrastructure, as banks continue expanding their digital asset offerings pending regulatory clearance.
