Apple yanks Telegram, Gram dips 6.4%, then proves Mark Twain still rules 🍎

Apple briefly pulled Telegram from its App Store after a review flagged content violating the platform's policies on child sexual abuse material, according to Bloomberg. The messaging app was restored once Telegram removed the content and banned the user responsible for posting it, Apple said.

The removal weighed on the Telegram-linked token Gram, which fell about 6.4% to $1.32 from $1.41 before recovering to roughly $1.40 at the time of writing, per CoinGecko data. The move marked a sharp but short-lived move for the token tied to the messaging platform.

Telegram responded on X with a post reading "Reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated," followed by an apple emoji. The company has not issued a separate statement on the App Store removal.

The App Store incident comes as Telegram faces legal pressure in two jurisdictions. Russian authorities are pursuing a terrorism-related charge against founder Pavel Durov over the platform's handling of alleged extremist content, and Australia's eSafety Commissioner has launched court proceedings alleging failures to remove terrorism-related material.

Apple's review process triggered the initial removal, and Telegram's compliance with the policy violations led to the app's reinstatement.
