Saylor's Strategy trims 1,638 BTC, slides $81M into STRC buyback 🪙
Michael Saylor's Strategy sold 1,638 Bitcoin between July 27 and August 2 for $104.7 million at an average price of $63,957, according to a Monday 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The sale brought the company's Bitcoin holdings to 842,138 BTC, acquired at an aggregate cost of $63.51 billion and an average price of $75,419 per coin. Strategy said $52.4 million of the proceeds funded dividend payments on its STRC preferred stock, while $52.3 million went toward STRC repurchases. The move marks the Bitcoin treasury firm's first Bitcoin sale since it disposed of 3,588 BTC for about $216 million on July 6, and its third sale of 2026.
Strategy also raised $290.6 million net last week through the sale of 3,011,361 MSTR shares. Of that amount, $250 million was added to the company's USD Reserve, lifting it to $4 billion; $28.9 million funded additional STRC repurchases; and $11.7 million was added to the cash balance. The week's transactions brought total STRC repurchases to $81.2 million, or 912,143 shares, under a $1 billion program announced June 29 and first used the prior week with a $25 million purchase. Strategy said the moves extended its USD runway, a metric it calls USD Duration, by 57 days to 2.3 years and tightened STRC's Bitcoin credit spread by five basis points.
Strategy founder and chairman Michael Saylor announced in a Monday X post that the company would hold STRC's annual dividend rate at 12%, declaring semi-monthly payments of $0.50 a share. The June 29 capital framework set out conditions for Bitcoin sales and permits up to $1.25 billion of disposals; with last week's sale, Strategy has used $321 million of that capacity. The framework also raised STRC's annual dividend rate to 12%, up from prior levels.
STRC traded at $89.4, or 10.6% below its $100 intended par value, during Monday's pre-market session, Yahoo Finance data showed. MSTR was down 0.9% in pre-market trading, while Bitcoin traded near $62,600, down 1% on the day, according to CoinGecko data. The pre-market MSTR figure of a 1.9% decline was also reported in one market summary. Strategy's Bitcoin stash now sits 5,225 BTC below the 847,363 peak reached in June, a reduction of 0.6%. The company has not purchased Bitcoin since June 22, when it bought 520 BTC.
