XRPL Drops 5 Amendments and a Global Node Buffet, Validators to Choose Their Own Adventure 🥩

The XRP Ledger is heading into its next software release with five pending amendments and a freshly expanded public node footprint, RippleX Head of Product Jazzi Copper said on X. The xrpld v3.3.0 update is expected to ship next week, with the changes only taking effect once they are approved by network validators.

Copper framed the release as a step toward making tokenized assets functional at scale, writing: "XRPL has already proven it can support tokenized assets at scale. Now it's time to put these assets to use: global transfers, trading, collateralizing, and settling." She added that the upcoming release "includes five amendments that move XRPL significantly closer to that goal."

Among the proposals is Confidential MPT, a feature that uses elliptic-curve encryption combined with zero-knowledge proofs to bring native privacy to Multi-Purpose Tokens. Issuers and holders would be able to keep balances and transfer amounts confidential, with a designated entity such as an auditor or regulator able to access the information when required. Copper stated, "For financial institutions, privacy is often a prerequisite for using public blockchain infrastructure." A second amendment, Batch, would allow multiple transactions between accounts to be processed together.

Separately, the XRP Ledger Foundation (XLRP) has partnered with infrastructure provider Ankr to roll out a network of globally distributed public XRPL nodes ahead of the v3.3.0 mainnet upgrade. The foundation said in an X post: "We're expanding public infrastructure access to the XRP Ledger for developers and users with Ankr. Globally distributed XRPL nodes from New York to Singapore to give you the best connectivity." XRPL dUNL validator Vet also weighed in, noting, "Adding more public XRP Ledger infrastructure for developers and users, without having them run their own nodes."

The new setup provides free JSON-RPC endpoints for both mainnet and testnet, along with a real-time dashboard showing network health and block height. Full history access is slated to be added at a later date. Together, the amendment package and the Ankr-backed node rollout position the network for a busier phase of validator-driven decision-making in the week ahead.
