SpaceX Shares Lift Off Pre-Earnings, But Insider Unlock Craters the Mood 🚀

—By our Markets Desk2 min read

The SpaceX (SPCX) stock price climbed nearly 3% out of the opening bell on Wall Street, pushing past the $111 mark as investors positioned for the company's first earnings report since its public debut. The release will mark Elon Musk's space technology firm's maiden quarterly disclosure as a listed company and is widely viewed as a catalyst for the next phase of price action.

Attention is also turning to insider lock-up expirations beginning this week, which market participants say could expand the pool of tradable shares and introduce near-term selling pressure on SPCX. Lock-up periods typically restrict company insiders from selling shares for a set window after an initial public offering, and their expiration frequently increases supply on the open market.

Despite those near-term concerns, longer-term sentiment has remained constructive. Brokerage Bernstein has maintained a $239 price target on the stock, reflecting continued expectations around the company's growth trajectory in launch services, satellite internet and other operations tied to Musk's broader portfolio.

The combination of an eagerly awaited first post-IPO earnings print and the unwinding of insider restrictions has left traders weighing momentum against the potential for a short-term pullback, with SPCX's intraday gains doing little to settle the debate ahead of the report.
