Ripple Drops Coin on ZILO and Licuido, Doubles Down on Making Tokenization the Norm 🪙
Ripple announced strategic investments in ZILO and Licuido, two companies focused on digital capital markets infrastructure, marking the next phase of its effort to bring regulated token issuance, transfer agency services and collateral mobility to institutional finance on the XRP Ledger. Financial terms of the investments were not disclosed.
The company described the deal as a continuation of existing partnerships with both firms and said the capital is intended to improve how traditional financial assets are issued, transferred, settled and used as collateral in tokenized markets. The XRP Ledger, Ripple noted, includes built-in institutional functionality for issuing, holding and maintaining collateral, multi-currency investing and atomic settlement, with the RLUSD stablecoin serving as the regulated payment asset for delivery-versus-payment transactions.
Ripple framed the move as a direct response to inefficiencies in legacy market infrastructure. "Today's capital markets are still suffering from a set of legacy systems that delay settlement and block the utilization of collateral in inefficient processes," the company stated.
