ARK Reaches for Circle: Wood Piles Into $6.83M of CRCL After NY Says Yes to USDC 🏛️
Cathie Wood's ARK Invest acquired approximately $6.83 million worth of Circle Internet Group (NYSE:CRCL) shares at Friday's close, according to trade disclosures. Circle stock settled at $62.61 on July 31, down $1.63 or 2.54% on the session, valuing the 109,129 shares picked up by the firm.
The purchases were split across three ARK funds: 77,103 shares went into ARKK, 22,238 into ARKW and 9,788 into ARKF. The buying activity came the same day the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) granted a limited-purpose trust charter to Circle Internet Trust Company LLC (Circle New York Trust).
The NYDFS license extends the regulatory framework around USDC, Circle's flagship stablecoin, by combining state oversight of issuance with federal trust powers the issuer secured earlier in the month from the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Circle has not publicly detailed further operational changes tied to the new charter.
Beyond Circle, ARK also added 298,243 shares of CoreWeave, 12,512 shares of the 3iQ Solana Staking ETF, 7,500 shares of Pony AI and 2,700 shares of Kodiak AI. The firm trimmed existing positions in Shopify, Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, Snowflake, 10x Genomics, Komatsu, Brera Holdings, Iridium Communications and Figma, while separately adding to holdings of SpaceX and Tesla earlier in the quarter.
The disclosures underscore ARK's continued conviction in the stablecoin issuer as it deepens its U.S. compliance footprint, with Wood's flagship funds now holding a combined 109,129 CRCL shares acquired in the latest round.
