PLDT joins the chat: Binance is back on both big PH pipes, peso rails next 🔌
Philippine telecom giant PLDT has restored access to the Binance Philippines website (binance.com/en-PH) across its network, joining Globe Telecom, which re-enabled access in May, to complete coverage across the country's two largest internet service providers. The reactivation marks a key milestone in Binance Philippines's structured return to one of Southeast Asia's most active crypto markets, routed through local partner BlockShoals Technologies Inc. under the Securities and Exchange Commission's StratBox sandbox framework.
Binance was ordered blocked in March 2024 after the National Telecommunications Commission and the Philippine SEC directed ISPs to cut access for offering unregistered securities without a local license, taking the exchange offline across all major Philippine networks. The re-entry follows a different operating model, with BlockShoals Technologies Inc. securing in-principle approval from the SEC in November 2025 and receiving a Notice to Proceed. Binance co-founder Changpeng "CZ" Zhao confirmed on X that the sandbox license is "very special" and that Filipino peso fiat channels are "coming soon," without specifying a launch date.
Binance has not disclosed transaction volumes, user counts, or a full timeline for the peso on- and off-ramps through BlockShoals. The SEC and PLDT did not immediately respond to requests for additional details on the unblock or the sandbox's commercial scope.
