Grayscale Boss Ditches 2,611 GXRP Shares, Still Holds 2.84 Million — Calm Down, XRP Army 🫡

By our Markets Desk2 min read

Grayscale CEO Peter Mintzberg sold 2,611 shares of the firm's GXRP XRP ETF through broker Cantor Fitzgerald, according to an SEC filing. The offloaded shares carried a total market value of $53,394, marking Mintzberg's first disclosed reduction of his personal XRP exposure.

After the sale, Mintzberg still holds approximately 2.84 million shares in the ETF, the filing shows. The CEO originally acquired the shares in October 2024 in a privately negotiated transaction directly from the issuer for cash. He reported no other sales of the issuer's securities in the period covered by the filing.

Grayscale Investments' CEO serves as an officer of the sponsor of GXRP, the company's spot XRP exchange-traded fund. The trimmed position comes as spot XRP ETFs have seen slowing inflows and as broader crypto markets digest concerns over a potential September Fed rate hike and delays to market-structure legislation referred to as the Clarity Act.

Despite the softer ETF flows, XRP's price moved higher in the period following the disclosure, with traders rotating between headlines rather than positioning outright. The filing made no specific reference to market conditions as a motive for the sale, and Mintzberg did not publicly comment on the transaction.

Grayscale, one of the largest digital asset managers, launched GXRP as part of its expanding suite of spot crypto ETFs tracking major tokens. The company's filings continue to provide a window into insider activity across its product lineup, even as the broader XRP market navigates regulatory and macroeconomic uncertainty.
