Grok 4.6 Lands Aug 7, Grok 4.7 Hot on Its Heels With 2.1T Parameters 🚀

Elon Musk said SpaceXAI plans to release the Grok 4.6 AI model around August 7, with the Grok 4.7 model set to follow a few weeks later. In a post on X, Musk described Grok 4.6 as a 1.5T-parameter model featuring significantly improved Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT) and Reinforcement Learning (RL).

Musk added that Grok 4.7 will arrive as a 2.1T-parameter upgrade. "This will be better than 4.6 in every way, except slightly slower to serve, albeit with even better token efficiency," Musk said about the Grok 4.7 model.

The planned launches follow the release of Grok 4.5 earlier this month. The roadmap positions SpaceXAI alongside OpenAI and Anthropic in the U.S. frontier-model race, even as Chinese firms continue to push competing systems.

The Grok model family powers features on X, Musk's social platform, and the broader xAI product stack that competes for enterprise and developer customers against established frontier labs. Musk has not disclosed pricing tiers or API rate limits for the upcoming releases, and SpaceXAI has not published a formal technical paper for either Grok 4.6 or Grok 4.7.
