BitMine Bags 9,946 ETH and 6.1M BMNR Shares, Because Tom Lee Loves a Two-Fer 🪙
Ethereum treasury firm BitMine acquired 9,946 ETH last week, lifting its cumulative holdings to 5,787,414 ETH, roughly 4.8% of the total Ethereum supply, according to a company press release. The purchase extended a streak of weekly ETH acquisitions that the firm has maintained since the start of the year and marked an increase from the prior week's buy of 7,430 ETH.
Of the total stash, 4,917,189 ETH — about 85% — is currently staked, valued at roughly $9.6 billion. BitMine also repurchased 6.1 million shares of its common stock, ticker BMNR, up from 5.5 million shares bought back the previous week. The dual move came as BMNR traded up more than 5% on the day.
BitMine Chairman Tom Lee has framed the firm's strategy around steadily accumulating ETH toward a long-stated goal of holding 5% of total supply, a target that the latest acquisition brings within closer reach. The company has continued to pair that accumulation with ongoing share repurchases, citing both balance-sheet positioning and capital-return objectives in prior disclosures.
The combined purchases underscore how the firm is leaning on both spot ETH accumulation and stock buybacks to reinforce its treasury approach, while staking the majority of its ETH to generate network rewards. BitMine has not disclosed changes to its staking validator setup in conjunction with the latest purchase, and the firm continues to publish weekly updates on its ETH and BMNR activity.
