HashKey folds four regional exchanges into one app, because compliance loves company 🧩

HashKey Holdings has consolidated its HashKey Exchange and HashKey Global venues into a single platform and application, the Hong Kong digital asset services firm said Monday. The merger brings its licensed hubs in Hong Kong, Singapore, the Middle East (Dubai) and Bermuda under one unified front end, replacing the regionally siloed structure that has historically defined licensed virtual asset trading.

The transition follows what HashKey described as a principle of "unified entry, localized compliance." Users download a single application, while the platform routes compliance obligations to the entity licensed in their jurisdiction — whether Hong Kong, Global, Singapore or the Middle East. HashKey said the architecture keeps a streamlined user experience intact without compromising adherence to local regulatory frameworks.

The move departs from the early stages of the virtual asset industry, when licensed exchanges typically operated under regional siloed models to simplify compliance, HashKey said. The company did not disclose additional financial terms or a timeline for completing user migration in the announcement.

Other platforms have pursued comparable consolidation strategies. OKX presents its website and mobile apps as one platform, while its terms assign customers to different licensed providers according to residence; on the legal backend, that same platform is based on separate entities for Singapore, Dubai, Australia, the EEA, Brazil and the United States. Kraken similarly folded Dutch broker BCM into its platform after acquiring it in September 2024, and in August began serving its European Economic Area customers through its Irish MiCA entity under a unified regulatory framework.
