Binance Vanishes From Google Play in Some EU Shops, Stays Put in Others 🇪🇺

—By our Regulation & Policy Desk2 min read

The Binance app has become unavailable on the Google Play Store in parts of the European Union, even as it remains downloadable in other member states, according to user reports and statements gathered this week. A user in Spain told Cointelegraph on Monday that the Binance app was no longer visible in Google Play searches in the country, although it continued to appear in Oppo's App Market, an Android store used on Oppo devices. Checks in Poland, by contrast, showed the Binance app still available on Google Play, indicating the removal does not extend across all EU markets.

The first reports of Binance's Android app disappearing from Google Play in Europe surfaced last week, when OKX Europe CEO Erald Ghoos wrote on X that the app had been removed over Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) licensing requirements. Cointelegraph contacted Binance for comment on the reported changes but did not receive a response by publication time. Binance withdrew its MiCA application in Greece shortly before the framework's transitional period ended on July 1.

Following the withdrawal, Binance notified some EU users that access to certain services would be restricted, while withdrawals would remain available. Separately, a Binance co-CEO has said that regulators invited the exchange to seek new licenses after the MiCA setback. No timeline has been given for the app's potential return to Google Play in the affected EU countries, and Binance has not publicly addressed the regional split in availability.
