Ripple Drops a Mint: New Platform Serves Institutions a Fresh Way to Handle RLUSD 🍃

Ripple has launched Ripple Mint, a new platform that lets institutions access, mint, redeem and manage its US dollar-pegged stablecoin Ripple USD (RLUSD) through a unified web interface or direct API integrations. Announced on Thursday, the platform is aimed at giving exchanges, market makers, fintechs and other institutional customers flexible workflows for digital dollar operations, with options for both manual use and automation.

"Ripple Mint is built to give institutions flexible access to digital dollars through the workflows that fit their needs," Ripple said, adding that the platform supports manual operations as well as automated integrations for institutions adopting stablecoins in payments, trading and treasury activities. The platform includes API access and webhook notifications covering fiat deposits, mint processing, onchain settlement and payouts, with consistent reference identifiers linking each stage of a transaction for end-to-end visibility.

RLUSD is issued in the United States by Standard Custody & Trust Company LLC, a trust company chartered by the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). The stablecoin is backed one-to-one by cash and cash equivalents held in segregated reserve accounts. The launch follows RLUSD's expansion beyond the XRP Ledger and Ethereum to Base, Ink, Optimism, Unichain and the XRPL EVM Sidechain, a move Ripple said was designed to broaden access across exchanges, decentralized finance protocols, payment applications and other onchain financial infrastructure. Ripple said Ripple Mint would be available immediately to existing institutional RLUSD customers.

RLUSD launched in December 2024 with a focus on institutional use, though it has also drawn retail interest. The token reached its all-time high market capitalization on June 1, 2026, surpassing $1.8 billion, according to CoinGecko. Around the Ripple Mint launch, RLUSD's market cap briefly rose from about $1.54 billion to $1.64 billion before settling near $1.59 billion, ranking it as the ninth-largest USD-pegged stablecoin by market capitalization at the time of publication.
