Morgan Stanley Just Gave Itself Two New Tickers: $MSSE and $MSOL 🏦
Morgan Stanley has received approval to list and trade spot Ethereum and Solana exchange-traded funds on NYSE Arca, according to SEC filings reviewed Thursday. The Wall Street giant submitted Form 8-A and related paperwork for both products, which have become auto-effective pursuant to Section 12(b) of the Exchange Act and remain pending a CERT filing that will determine the formal trading date.
The Ethereum fund will trade under the ticker MSSE, while the Solana fund will carry the ticker MSOL. Morgan Stanley has also filed Form 424B3 for both products, though details on any fee waiver were not included in the documents. The filings did not specify a launch date beyond the standard regulatory milestones.
The approval adds Morgan Stanley to a growing roster of traditional asset managers offering spot crypto ETFs on US exchanges. The firm has previously named Coinbase Prime as its delegated sponsor and Coinbase as custodian and trade finance agent for its digital asset products, roles it confirmed in earlier regulatory submissions.
Industry data compiled by CoinGape shows a notable acceleration in altcoin ETF filings throughout 2025, with issuers submitting applications for funds tracking $ETH, $SOL and a range of other tokens. The SEC's posture toward spot crypto products has shifted as applications have multiplied, with auto-effective pathways under Section 12(b) of the Exchange Act providing a streamlined route to listing once filings are complete.
Both Morgan Stanley ETFs remain in pre-launch status pending the CERT notification, after which NYSE Arca will confirm the date on which MSSE and MSOL shares can begin trading on the exchange.
