Convertible? Con-verted: Smarter Web Dumps 177.89 BTC to Settle TOBAM Notes Early 🚀

The Smarter Web Company, a UK-based digital asset treasury (DAT), has sold 177.89 Bitcoin at an average price of $65,762 to repay a Smarter Convert instrument held by entities related to TOBAM Group, the company disclosed. The transaction settled $11,698,540 of convertible notes almost two weeks ahead of maturity at the request of The Smarter Web Company and with TOBAM's support.

The original agreement had required deployment of at least 98% of the funds into Bitcoin, a structure that positioned the firm among a growing roster of public companies holding BTC on their balance sheets. The early repayment marks a notable shift for the DAT, which had been navigating Strategy's recent Bitcoin sale activity and broader volatility in the digital asset market.

Following the announcement, Bitcoin price dropped 0.65% to below $65,400, while shares of The Smarter Web Company pared earlier gains. The dual move added to concerns within the crypto community already weighing Strategy's Bitcoin sale jitters against broader macroeconomic uncertainty.

The Smarter Web Company, listed as SWC on UK markets, confirmed the settlement details in a public disclosure, noting the cooperation of TOBAM Group in facilitating the early closure. The convertible notes had been one of the firm's primary capital instruments for accumulating BTC as part of its treasury strategy.

The transaction underscores how Bitcoin-focused treasury companies are actively managing their debt obligations and exposure to BTC amid ongoing price pressure. With the Smarter Convert instrument now settled, The Smarter Web Company has cleared one of its principal convertible liabilities ahead of schedule.
