Bitget Lands in Kiwi FSPR, Now Officially Allowed to Hold Your Money Down Under 🥝

Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has been registered as a Financial Services Provider (FSP) in New Zealand, placing the platform on the country's Financial Service Providers Register (FSPR). The registration allows Bitget to operate across multiple categories of financial services, including foreign currency exchange, domestic and cross-border money transfers, client asset custody, and portfolio and money management. The exchange is also permitted to execute financial products and foreign exchange transactions on behalf of clients.

In conjunction with the FSPR registration, Bitget has joined the New Zealand Insurance and Financial Services Ombudsman (IFSO) Dispute Resolution Scheme. The independent scheme provides customers with an alternative channel for grievance and resolution involving participating financial services companies. The move is part of the exchange's broader compliance and operational roadmap as it develops systems, equipment, and tools to service a growing global user base.

The New Zealand registration adds to Bitget's ongoing international expansion efforts, which have included regulatory milestones in other jurisdictions. Separately, the exchange recently reported that trading volume for its perpetual futures products surpassed $70 billion, marking a record high for that segment of its business. Bitget has not disclosed specific timelines for the rollout of services covered under the New Zealand registration.

The FSPR registration does not constitute a license or endorsement by the Financial Markets Authority beyond listing on the register, and Bitget continues to operate under the terms of New Zealand's financial services framework. Further details on available products and customer onboarding under the New Zealand registration are expected as the exchange finalizes its local operational setup.
