XRP Flexes $2.60B Open Interest, Dethrones HYPE for the No. 4 Derivatives Throne 👑

—By our Markets Desk1 min read

XRP futures open interest climbed to $2.60 billion as of July 20, pushing the token past Hyperliquid's HYPE to rank fourth among crypto assets by derivatives exposure, according to CoinGlass data. Total XRP futures open interest jumped more than 10% over the past 24 hours, while HYPE open interest slipped to $2.57 billion as interest cooled.

The surge in derivatives positioning follows renewed capital inflows into XRP from institutional partners, whale wallets, spot ETFs, and derivatives traders. Open interest, which measures the total value of outstanding futures and perpetual contracts, has historically served as a gauge of trader conviction and leveraged capital deployment.

Market data shows massive buying across crypto exchanges in the past four hours, with XRP leading the rally in futures open interest growth. Spot ETF flows have also contributed to the asset's momentum, reflecting sustained demand beyond the derivatives segment.

The combination of rising open interest, whale accumulation, and ETF inflows has been cited by analysts as a signal of strengthening institutional engagement within the XRP ecosystem. All cited figures are drawn directly from CoinGlass reporting dated July 20.
