BlackRock's ETH Tailwind Edges Out $BTC in Spot ETF Inflows 🚀
Spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds pulled in more than spot Bitcoin ETFs over a recent stretch, marking a rare flip in the institutional flow race that has long favored $BTC, according to data tied to BlackRock's products. BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) has been credited in industry coverage as a primary engine behind the shift, drawing fresh capital even as its spot Bitcoin ETF (IBIT) continues to absorb steady inflows.
Ethereum ($ETH) was trading near $3,183, while Bitcoin ($BTC) hovered around $118,867 in the period under review, with both assets reacting to the rotating ETF demand. The BlackRock-driven rotation has fueled renewed discussion among analysts tracking ETF flow prints, though neither issuer has commented on the relative performance of the products.
The development comes as Ethereum developers prepare for the Fusaka hard fork, a planned network upgrade tied to scaling work on the layer-1 base. Separately, Solana ($SOL) founder Anatoly Yakovenko said he remains bullish on Ethereum even after the Ethereum Foundation announced staff cuts, calling the foundation's underlying protocol work undervalued relative to the broader ecosystem. Robert Kiyosaki, author of "Rich Dad Poor Dad," has also publicly reiterated a long-standing bullish stance on $ETH.
Analysts cited by CryptoNews said the inflows reflect a broader institutional appetite for diversified crypto exposure beyond Bitcoin, though they cautioned that weekly flow data can swing sharply and a single reporting period does not constitute a structural regime change. Spot Bitcoin ETFs remain the larger category by cumulative assets under management, with BlackRock's IBIT among the top holders across the entire ETF industry.
The flow data was published as part of an Ethereum price prediction note by CryptoNews on July 16, 2026, and the underlying ETF flow figures were attributed to BlackRock's Ethereum product disclosures and third-party flow trackers. Neither BlackRock nor the Ethereum Foundation responded to requests for comment by the time of publication, and all figures are presented as reported without independent verification.
