Arthur Hayes Re-Enters the ETH Pool, Apparently Unbothered by His Last Swim 🏊

By our Markets Desk2 min read

Arthur Hayes bought 1,293 ETH ($2.48 million) on Wednesday, July 15, hours after receiving 646 ETH ($1.24 million) from Galaxy Digital, according to on-chain data flagged by Onchain Lens. The same wallet had sent $1.25 million USDC to Galaxy Digital and another $1.25 million USDC to FalconX minutes earlier, a pattern Onchain Lens described as consistent with over-the-counter trades. Lookonchain later confirmed the additional 1,293 ETH purchase, bringing the day's combined accumulation above 1,900 ETH.

The buying marks a reversal from late June, when Hayes sold 6,000 ETH at an estimated loss of $606,000. Around the same period, he exited positions in Worldcoin (WLD), Zcash (ZEC), NEAR, and Hyperliquid (HYPE), citing energy prices, AI-linked IPOs, and political uncertainty as risks to crypto markets. He has also accumulated tokens including SYN, HYPE, ZEC, NEAR, and WLD this year, several of which he later exited or reversed, drawing scrutiny over his pattern of high-profile entries followed by quiet exits.

Hayes remains underwater on at least one recent trade. He bought $2.2 million worth of Synapse's SYN token in late June, and the asset has since fallen more than 55%, leaving him roughly 28% down on a $610,000 unrealized loss. He has fared better on his Bitcoin calls: his $40,000 bottom prediction from June was echoed weeks later by a major Chinese mining firm that cited him when projecting a similar floor.

Ether trades near $1,920 at publication, up 2.79% over the past day, with Ethereum's market capitalization at approximately $231 billion, ranking second among all cryptocurrencies. Whether this week's accumulation fares better than his recent SYN position or aligns with Ethereum's broader July trajectory will become clearer in the coming weeks.
