Founded in 2016, LDPlayer is one of several Android emulators used globally to run mobile games on Windows, with support for multi-instance play, keyboard-and-mouse controls, and customizable settings.

The move to Android 14 brings the emulator in line with the requirements of mobile games that have been updated for Android 10 or later. Titles requiring newer system components previously failed to install, launched incorrectly, or lost access to features on emulators built on older Android versions, gradually narrowing the catalog of new games players could run on PC. LDPlayer 14's Android 14 base is the release's primary change, focused on system support rather than unrelated feature additions.

Internal testing also showed higher average frame rates for LDPlayer 14 than an earlier LDPlayer version in the titles tested, with performance framed as a supporting improvement rather than the main focus.
