TeraWulf Swaps Some Hashrate for Hyperscaler: Anthropic Locks In 20-Year, $19B AI Data Center Deal 🏗️

Bitcoin miner TeraWulf has signed a 20-year lease agreement with AI firm Anthropic at its Justified Data campus in Hawesville, Kentucky, the miner said in a press release. The deal is expected to generate nearly $19 billion in contracted revenue over the initial lease term.

Under the agreement, the campus will accommodate approximately 401 MW of critical IT load and will be developed in multiple phases. TeraWulf stated the structure is designed to support large-scale compute capacity aligned with hyperscaler-grade requirements.

TeraWulf's stock surged more than 12% on the news, moving against the broader downtrend in the crypto market. The company did not disclose the specific financial terms beyond the $19 billion revenue projection over the lease's initial term.

The agreement comes as the U.S. government approved the Mythos AI rollout to selected organizations. It also follows reporting that Anthropic is preparing for an initial public offering at a valuation of up to $1 trillion.

TeraWulf said the long-term lease with Anthropic marks a pivot toward hosting compute-heavy AI workloads alongside its Bitcoin mining operations, with development at the Hawesville site set to proceed in staged buildouts over the coming years.
