Ripple Just Got the EU's Golden Ticket — Luxembourg Hands Over the Full CASP Crown 👑
Ripple has secured full Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorization in Luxembourg, clearing its final regulatory hurdle under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework. The license, approved by Luxembourg's Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), upgrades the company from preliminary approval to a fully operating license, enabling Ripple to offer regulated digital asset services across all 30 European Economic Area (EEA) markets.
The authorization activates Ripple's passporting rights across the bloc, allowing it to serve banks, financial institutions, enterprises, and corporate customers without pursuing separate licenses in each member state. Ripple said the license positions it for the post-MiCA transition phase, during which crypto firms operating in the EU must align with the bloc's unified regulatory regime.
Cassie Craddock, Managing Director, UK & Europe at Ripple, framed the milestone as a launchpad for institutional expansion in the region. "This CASP authorisation means Ripple enters the post-transitional MiCA era fully compliant and ready to scale. The institutions we work with across Europe are looking to build their digital assets services alongside regulated partners," Craddock said.
The CSSF approval adds Luxembourg to Ripple's growing list of regulatory credentials, which already includes a Digital Payments Token (DPT) license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore and registration as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) in the United Kingdom. Ripple has not disclosed a specific date for the rollout of services under the new license, though the company indicated that EEA clients can begin onboarding once the authorization is fully operational.
