ChangeNOW's swap engine clocks sub-minute USDT-to-ETH trades, leaving 45-minute industry median in the dust ⏱️

Crypto swaps have shifted from niche utility to a default on-ramp between digital assets, and ChangeNOW is leaning on a proprietary trading engine to keep its average settlement times measured in seconds rather than hours. Chief Strategy Officer Pauline Shangett described the platform as "a trading engine that a lot of people can access all at once," sitting between the user and external centralized or decentralized exchanges and executing trades on the client's behalf "without the client having to watch over things like the order book, transaction fees and complicated interfaces." The service supports more than 1,500 digital assets across 110 blockchains including ETH, BSC and SOL, with new tokens added weekly, alongside 70-plus fiat options.

The engine draws primarily on internal inventory. Shangett said ChangeNOW "mostly operates in our own liquidity when it comes to swaps," pricing trades using external exchange order books, market-data feeds such as CoinMarketCap and an in-house "liquidity engine" of wallets holding balances for specific pairs. Running off its own reserves, she argued, means "network speed is not as much of a liability as it could be." That setup translated into measurable performance in a recent Swapzone benchmark drawing on 150,000 transactions, where ChangeNOW's median USDT-to-ETH settlement came in under one minute versus an industry median of around 45 minutes, though the figures depend on the pairs and conditions tested.

Coverage spans meme coins, AI tokens, DeFi, GameFi, stablecoins, privacy coins, DePIN and RWA assets. Fiat rails run through "trusted partners" including Transak, Simplex, Banxa and Guardarian, allowing users to fund accounts with Visa, MasterCard, Google Pay, Apple Pay, FasterPay, Sepa, Pix, ACH and Revolut.

Beyond core swaps, ChangeNOW has rolled out a privacy-focused transfer feature that shields the sender's wallet address and on-chain trail from the recipient while maintaining AML monitoring, a Permanent Exchange Address that auto-converts incoming crypto into a preselected payout coin for recurring flows, and a shareable crypto payment link for lightweight merchant-style use cases.
