Wall Street Goes Full Buy Button While $BTC Watches From 53% Below Its Peak 🪑

Nearly 60% of S&P 500 stocks now carry a Buy rating from Wall Street analysts, the highest level on record, according to FactSet data cited by Creative Planning chief market strategist Charlie Bilello. Buy ratings stood at 59.4% of analyst calls in June, with Hold ratings at 35.7% and Sell calls at 4.9%, below the five-year average. Bilello framed the optimism as a caution, stating, "When everyone is expecting good news, there's less room for positive surprises," in a late-June post. The surge in analyst confidence has coincided with a US-Iran agreement to halt strikes and suspend hostilities, according to an Axios report, with technical talks set for Tuesday in Doha. The deal extends a June 18 framework that collapsed into renewed strikes days later and includes plans for a military hotline and maritime security measures that have yet to take effect.

The geopolitical thaw has supported US equities and other risk assets, though Bitcoin has diverged from stocks. About 20 million barrels of oil cross the Strait of Hormuz each day, roughly a fifth of global consumption, according to the EIA, and each escalation in the corridor has pressured crypto. A June 3 drop in Bitcoin below $66,000 triggered about $1.84 billion in liquidations, the most since February, per CoinGlass data. Bitcoin's spot price sat near $59,633 on Monday, down about 6% on the week and roughly 53% below its October 2025 peak near $126,080, according to BeInCrypto figures.

The truce remains fragile, with President Trump threatening to "complete the job" and Iran's Revolutionary Guard issuing fresh warnings over the strait. Bank of America has long characterized Bitcoin as a risk asset, and the divergence between equities holding near highs and $BTC trading near multi-month lows has drawn attention from market participants. The ceasefire terms, including freedom of movement for commercial vessels, are still subject to ongoing technical negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
