Whales gobble $1.6M of $LINK while futures traders refuse to bite 🐳

Large holders expanded their Chainlink [LINK] exposure as accumulation accelerated over several hours, with a single wallet withdrawing roughly 200,961 LINK from Binance across multiple transfers valued at approximately $1.6 million. The transactions occurred while LINK traded near recent recovery levels rather than local highs, with the pattern of repeated withdrawals pointing to deliberate positioning rather than speculative spikes.

Spot flow metrics presented a more divided picture. Exchange records showed $6.60 million in inflows against $6.29 million in outflows, producing a modest positive netflow of around $346,000. The imbalance indicated that deposits slightly exceeded withdrawals during the latest session, with some holders continuing to move tokens onto trading venues even as others reduced their exchange exposure.

The contrast grew sharper in derivatives markets. Futures Taker CVD remained in seller-dominant territory, indicating that aggressive participants executed more sell orders than buy orders and reflecting a clear disconnect between spot accumulation and futures sentiment. While large investors pulled LINK from exchanges, leveraged traders maintained bearish positioning, signaling expectations of further consolidation or another downside test.

Price action showed improving stability after LINK rebounded sharply from early June lows. Buyers defended the $7.34 support zone before driving the price back above $7.77, leaving the asset to trade near recovery levels as spot demand from whales and cautious hedging from futures participants continued to play out in opposite directions.
