AXS Wakes Up Smelling Like a 630% Volume Spike — $0.882 Just Got Famous

Axie Infinity's AXS token climbed 23.13% as trading volume surged 630.63% to $127.54 million, lifting the token to $1.16 and pushing its market capitalization up 23.05% to $201.94 million. The move marked one of the strongest single-day performances for the token in recent weeks and signaled a shift in market activity after a stretch of subdued trading.

Derivatives activity tracked the spot rally. Open Interest in AXS futures rose 91.02% to $38.64 million, indicating that new capital entered the futures market rather than existing traders simply closing positions. Rising Open Interest alongside rising prices typically reflects fresh positioning, though it can also amplify volatility near major resistance zones.

On-chain data pointed to a tightening of readily available supply. Exchange-held AXS balances fell 29.27% to 8.473 million tokens, extending a broader decline in reserves. Lower exchange balances generally indicate that holders have moved tokens off trading platforms, reducing the supply positioned for immediate sale.

The price move followed a technical breakout. AXS defended support near $0.882, broke above a descending channel that had guided the downtrend through June and advanced toward the $1.203 resistance level, which now stands as the immediate hurdle for further gains. The MACD produced a bullish crossover with its histogram turning positive, while the Parabolic SAR flipped below price, aligning with the channel breakout and indicating that prior bearish momentum had faded.
