Bitget's Web3 Next-Gen Talent Intelligence Report has identified a persistent barrier preventing aspiring professionals from entering the blockchain workforce, with more than 54% of surveyed job seekers citing lack of prior experience as the primary obstacle to landing even junior-level roles. The findings, drawn from a study conducted under the exchange's Blockchain4Youth (B4Y) initiative, surveyed aspiring and early-career professionals across multiple regions and underscored a widening gap between Web3 education and actual employment pathways.
The report highlights that 52% of respondents pointed to deficiencies in blockchain education itself, noting that available curricula tend to emphasize theoretical knowledge over the practical training employers expect. According to Bitget, this dynamic has created a bottleneck where qualified candidates cannot demonstrate hands-on experience and companies cannot find entry-level talent ready to contribute from day one.
The B4Y initiative, which has registered more than 10,000 learners pursuing careers in Web3, has been positioned as a response to these structural issues. Bitget stated that the program aims to bridge the disconnect between expanding global blockchain education and the comparatively slower growth of corresponding job markets, a gap the report attributes to limited entry points for newcomers.
Despite the rapid expansion of blockchain courses and certifications worldwide, the study found that employment infrastructure has not kept pace. Respondents indicated that while educational content has proliferated, employers continue to prioritize candidates with prior industry experience, effectively locking out recent graduates and career switchers attempting to enter the sector.
Bitget's report signals that addressing the experience paradox will require coordinated efforts between training providers and hiring entities to create viable on-ramps for first-time Web3 workers.
