Marathon Joins the 1,000-BTC Club, Vaults to Fourth-Largest Bitcoin Hoarder 🏦

Marathon Digital Holdings purchased 1,000 BTC valued at $66.7 million on the 16th of June, bringing its total holdings to roughly 36,303 BTC worth $2.4 billion and securing the fourth position among corporate Bitcoin treasuries, according to BitcoinTreasuries data. The acquisition forms part of a broader accumulation pattern across digital-asset treasuries (DATs), which collectively hold 1.263 million BTC valued at $83.84 billion following a 3.2% increase over the past 30 days.

Strategy, the corporate treasury vehicle led by Michael Saylor, has anchored much of that growth, acquiring 3,136 BTC this month through transactions dated the 8th and 15th of June. The firm also recorded its first publicly disclosed sale, offloading 32 BTC in a move associated with a broader market pullback that pushed Bitcoin to $63,000 over the past week. Strategy now holds $56.3 billion worth of the asset.

Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds have continued to record net outflows, with only two sessions of net inflows between April 15 and the latest data—$3.05 million on June 4 and $85.85 million on June 12. The session ending April 15 instead recorded a $64.09 million outflow as renewed geopolitical conflict weighed on the market. The Coinbase Premium Index, which tracks U.S. demand against global activity on Binance, has slipped to approximately negative 0.0078, recovering from -0.179 on the 27th of May.

Bitcoin remains at least 23.05% lower on a year-to-date basis, with analysts attributing much of the decline to escalating U.S.–Iran tensions that pulled capital from risk assets. The asset has gained 7.66% over the past seven days amid reports of progress toward a possible resolution of the conflict. Bitcoin was trading in the $60,000 region at press time, while analysts have identified $53,000 as a level consistent with prior bear-cycle behavior.
