CZ Refuses To Eulogize Crypto: "Absolutely Not" Dead, "Super Cycle" Still TBD ⚰️➡️📈
Binance founder Changpeng "CZ" Zhao said the cryptocurrency industry is "absolutely not" dead, even as Bitcoin trades in a range that observers have labeled a market winter. In a recent interview, CZ pushed back on concerns that the long-anticipated "super cycle" he flagged four months ago has failed to materialize, while reiterating that he does not make specific price predictions. "I think even when I said it, I probably said I could not predict the future," he said, adding, "I try to avoid prediction questions regardless."
The exchange came as $BTC has pulled back to roughly $60,000 from a recent push near $80,000, leaving the largest cryptocurrency stuck in a $60,000–$64,000 band. Asked about the weakness, CZ acknowledged the downturn but rejected any narrative of an industry in terminal decline. "But will crypto die? Absolutely not," he said, later adding, "Crypto will continue to grow. So I think the super cycle will come. I'm not sure when it will come."
CZ also referenced a June 13, 2026 post on X in which he wrote, "Might be late… I can't predict anything," alongside a laughing emoji, underscoring his reluctance to attach a timeline to the cycle thesis. The remarks place him at odds with a broader market that has grown impatient with a multi-month consolidation phase, and they dovetail with his long-running argument that adoption, not price action, defines the industry's trajectory.
Binance, the exchange CZ founded and later stepped back from leading following his 2023 guilty plea to U.S. federal charges including failure to maintain an effective anti-money-laundering program, remains the world's largest crypto trading venue by volume. The interview did not touch on regulatory matters or pending litigation, and CZ offered no new forecast for $BTC or the wider altcoin market, leaving the "super cycle" framing intact but, by his own admission, undated.
