X Goes Big: Musk's Platform Rolls Out Mega Charts Because Tiny Candles Were So 2023 📈
Elon Musk's X launched a new "Big Charts" feature on June 12, expanding its Smart Cashtags tool to display larger, interactive, real-time financial data for cryptocurrencies and stocks directly within user timelines. The feature currently supports BTC, ETH, XRP, SOL, DOGE, HYPE, TSLA, MSTR, and COIN, with availability limited to iOS and the web. According to X product head Nikita Bier, the rollout was driven by user requests for more usable chart displays on the platform.
The upgrade allows users to embed expanded price charts into posts by tapping a cashtag or contract address before publishing. Tapping any cashtag surfaces related posts alongside the asset's price chart, consolidating social discussion and market data into a single view. The platform confirmed that users will also be able to trade SpaceX (SPCX) stock directly from X, though a launch date for that trading function was not disclosed.
The feature arrives as X continues to position itself as an "everything app," blending social media, financial information, and commerce under one roof. In a post on June 12, Bier teased additional upcoming features, writing, "Two more surprises before the week is over," signaling further product updates tied to the platform's fintech ambitions.
Big Charts builds on Smart Cashtags, X's existing system that surfaces price data when users reference tickers such as $BTC or $ETH. The expanded version replaces the prior compact chart format with a full-size, interactive panel designed to make technical reading easier on both desktop and mobile browsers. Coverage of the rollout noted the timing coincides with renewed trading activity across major crypto assets, though X's announcement did not reference market conditions.
Musk has previously framed X as a platform that could handle payments, investing, and commerce, and the Big Charts launch marks a concrete step toward embedding financial tools into the core user experience. The company has not yet announced when the feature will be extended to Android devices.
