Strategy adds 1,550 bitcoin for $101 million, lifts cash reserves to $1 billion

Strategy (MSTR) acquired 1,550 $BTC for approximately $101 million at an average price of $65,332 per coin, according to a Monday announcement from Executive Chairman Michael Saylor. The purchase brings the company's total holdings to 845,256 $BTC, acquired for just under $64 billion, and represents the first bitcoin buy since Strategy sold 32 $BTC on June 1.

The acquisition followed a week in which $BTC fell around 15%, briefly trading below $60,000 before rebounding above $62,000. Strategy's latest buy was executed at a price below its overall average acquisition cost of $75,680 per bitcoin.

Alongside the purchase, Strategy disclosed that it increased its U.S. dollar reserves by $100 million, bringing total cash reserves to $1 billion. The company said it issued $181 million of common stock during the period to fund both the bitcoin acquisition and the increase in cash reserves.

The transaction expands Strategy's bitcoin reserve while also adding to its balance sheet liquidity.
